Patricia Meckfessel

Pat Meckfessel relocated to the West Texas border in 2016 by way of New York City and Dallas. With a Bachelor of Science from Columbia University, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from FIT, she practiced as a licensed interior designer for over 30 years. Now she is a full-time artist, doing what she always wanted to do. Her work focuses the flora and fauna of West Texas, as well as on personal life experiences such as visits to World War I battlefields and splendid trips to Paris.

Recent shows include Desert Muse at Marfa Studio of Arts, Lone Star Art Show in Dallas, and featured interviewed artist at Gallery On The Square/Big Bend Arts Council in Alpine. One of her pieces was chosen for the Art In The Time of Crisis Show at the Wallach Gallery at Columbia University, April 2021.

Upcoming Shows

Solo show, Marfa, TX

In 2022, the artist and part of her family drove around France to visit the the World War I battlefields of Verdun and the Somme. The current series of paintings involves a search for deeper understanding of World War I, hauntingly skimmed over in past history classes. Visiting the battlegrounds was a moving experience, and the images presented involve historic research combined with first hand perceptions.
